Morphed

Since I stopped teaching regular classes, this group have morphed into something else. Instead of getting together to make art, we get together to talk, share and generally enjoy each others company on a monthly basis at a Coffee Shop in Geelong. Any artist of any persuasion can attend the morning get togethers which occur on the third Thursday of each month.

Originally it started with 3 artist friends meeting with the idea that each would invite one other person for the following month. If they came, then those new 3 could invite 3 more for the following month. There is no obligation to attend and no obligation to let anyone know if one is not attending. No administration involved.

Generally, about 10-12 turn up and we have a spirited sharing of information and ideas.

We are now thinking of visiting each other's studios sometimes. Very relaxed agenda.

Print Council of Australia inc visit

Today, some of Geelong Printmakers were fortunate to be able to share lunch with Damien Kelly and Georgia Thorpe from The Print Council of Australia inc.
This get together took place at the Studio of one of the Printmakers and gave everyone present the chance to put faces to names. Damien had a bit of a show and tell, Georgia handed out some invites to an exhibition and they both viewed some unframed works from the Printmakers. A group photo in the Studio will be posted when it is received from Damien.

For now, the following images give an indication of those present.

Looking for a home

Printmakers@Geelong, or should I say one printmaker in particular, has been busy researching a permanent home for the Printmakers where they can gain open studio access.

From the feedback received, it seems the use of a larger press would be most desirable.

Shortly, a meeting of interested parties will be called to ascertain the amount of enthusiasm for this idea and the formation of an Artists Run Initiative.

This is the building being looked at. It is part of a 14acre past woollen mill site in North Geelong. The interior is 100 square metres and as you can see, it has that grungy, industrial look. Great access, great parking. Water and power. Also toilet facilities just behind the yellow crates.

WATCH THIS SPACE.

Exhibition

Here are some images from the exhibition. Not great as lighting is an issue but will give the idea.
